5G and FTTH promote the market of SM fibers to reach 6.81 billion US dollars in 2025
According to Allied Market Research, a market research firm, in a recent report, the global single-mode optical fiber market will grow from $3.02 billion in 2017 to $6.81 billion in 2025. CAGR, which supports 5G deployment, FTTH and related applications, will achieve a composite annual growth rate of 10.8%.
According to the agency, the single-mode optical fiber with the highest shipment volume in 2017 is G.652, which accounts for about 87% of the total market revenue due to its popularity in long-distance and metropolitan area optical fiber networks. However, Allied Research predicts that G.657 single-mode fibers will grow at a compound annual rate of 19.8% in the forecast period, as low-loss, bend-resistant fibers will be widely used in FTTx and enterprise networks.
Although most single-mode optical fibers are deployed in Telecom operators‘networks, Allied Research predicts that cable operators will contribute 16.5% of the compound annual growth rate in the layout of optical fiber depth architecture.
In addition, although the Asia-Pacific region accounted for more than two-thirds of the sales revenue of single-mode optical fibers in 2017, Allied Research expects North American sales to show a compound annual growth rate of up to 14.8% in the forecast period.
